Abstract Background: Considering that nurses' job satisfaction improves the quality of nursing care, it is necessary to evaluate periodically the job satisfaction of this group, especially after any change in health care systems. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate job satisfaction of nurses in hospitals affiliated to Kashan University of Medical Sciences and its related factors. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional analytical study, sampling was performed by census method in 2018 and 422 nurses working in teaching hospitals of Kashan University of Medical Sciences (Iran) were evaluated. Data collection tools were; possible factors related to job satisfaction, Oxford Happiness and Minnesota Job Satisfaction questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16, independent t-test and Ordinal Regression. Result: Overall job satisfaction scores of nurses were 68.18 ± 9.27 (on a scale of 20-100), general dimension was 12.74 ± 2.40 (on a scale of 4-20), internal dimension was 35.83 ± 4.69 (on the scale was 10-50), the external dimension of job satisfaction was 19.64 ± 3.86 (on the scale of 6-30). The variables of education, nativeness, unit of workplace, interest in the nursing profession, satisfaction with the received salary, satisfaction with the dealing and performance of the head nurse and officials of nursing office were predicting factors of job satisfaction and explained 47.3% of the variance of job satisfaction score. Conclusion: Nurses' job satisfaction was moderate and affected by various factors. Officials need to consider these factors in policy-making and planning.
