The Relationship between Attitude and Practical commitment to Prayer and the Level of Health Promoting Behaviors and Resilience in Students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences, 2019

Background: Prayer is a means of deterring believers from ugly acts of arrogance, self-sacrifice, and the safety, security of the heart and salvation of believers. Resilience is considered as one of the main features of the personality to understand the motivation, excitement and behavior, and as a capacity to resist stress and disaster; Therefore, Understanding the relevant factors that are effective in adapting students to healthier behaviors and reducing risky behaviors is important. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between practical attitude and practical commitment to prayer and health promoting behaviors and resilience in students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences in 2019.

Methods: This study is a cross-sectional and was performed on all students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences. Criteria for entering the study, studying in Kashan University of Medical Sciences, and willingness and informed consent to participate in the study, and the criteria for withdrawal were unwillingness to cooperate in the study. Random multi-stage method was used for sampling. In this method, health, nursing, paramedical, medical and dentistry schools were considered as a cluster and classes as a class. Subsequently, using a student list of each class as a sampling framework, a simple random sampling method was used, then data collection was done through a questionnaire. A questionnaire was comprised of four sections: demographic information, tools for assessing the attitude and practical commitment of students to prayer, the result of the Begirlian study, the Health Promoting Lifestyle (HPLPII) and the Conver and Davidson Vibration Measurement Tool (CD-RIS). Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 16 using descriptive and analytical statistics. The significance level was considered (p <0.05).

results: 42.5% of the students in this study of men (170) and 57.5% of students (230) were women. The mean and standard deviation of the students' age was 22.53 ± 1.73. Mean score of attitude and practical commitment of students to prayer (52.1 ± 10.11), health promotion behaviors (126.18 ± 21.11), and resilience (88.98 ± 14.71) was; There was a significant relationship between the mean score of students' attitude and practical commitment to prayer and the mean score of health promoting and resilience behaviors (p <0.05).

Conclusion: Considering the statistical correlation between attitude and practical commitment to prayer with health-promoting behaviors and resiliency; Behavioral implications of practical attitude and commitment to prayer can be used to improve and promote resilience and health promotion behaviors of students.
