Time dependent injection of β-Amyloid maintenance effect in CA1 region of hippocampus on learning and spatial memory

Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disease. Alzheimer leads to the progressive loss of mental, behavioral and decline in ability to learn. Morris Water Maze is a kind of learning and memory assay test that used in study of brain disorders related to amnesia in disease like Alzheimer. The aim of this study was to investigate the maintenance effect of β-Amyloid 1-42 (Aβ) after 31 days of injection in learning and spatial memory of adult male rats by MWM. Materials and Methods: The control group was the intact rats. In sham groups the Aβ solvent and in experiment groups 5 μg/μl of Aβ 1-42 respectively was injected bilaterally in CA1 region of rat hippocampus. The first recipient group of Aβ after 6, the second group after 11 and the third group, after 31 days was trained by MWM. Results: During 4 training days in probe and visible test, there was no significant difference between control and sham groups. The results of learning step in 3 groups of recipient of Aβ showed that traveled distance and escape latency to find the hidden platform significantly was increased in compare with sham groups but there was no significant difference in probe and visible test between experiment and sham groups. Conclusion: The results showed that long exposure to Aβ leads to more destroy in memory and learning of animal with Alzheimer.
