Introduction and Aim: Restless legs syndrome is a common neurosensory-motor disorder characterized by an unpleasant sensation in the legs, usually at the beginning of sleep. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of restless legs syndrome and its relationship with repetitive negative thoughts among medical students at Islamic Azad University of Arak. Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational. A sample of 272 students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences in the academic year 2024-2024 was selected using the available method. The data collection tool included the Restless Leg Syndrome and Negative Repetitive Thoughts Questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed with one-sample T-tests and Pearson correlation with SPSS-29 software. Results: The findings showed that 2.6% of students suffered from severe symptoms and 30.1% from mild symptoms of restless legs syndrome. 67.3% of students also had no symptoms of restless legs syndrome. Most students (73.5%) had a moderate level of negative repetitive thoughts and 10.7% had a high level of negative repetitive thoughts. Also, a significant relationship was observed between restless legs syndrome and negative repetitive thoughts (r=0.361; p<0.001). Conclusion:Based on the results, it can be said that restless legs syndrome is common in students and repetitive negative thoughts can cause or exacerbate restless legs syndrome in medical students.
