The effect of six weeks of total-body resistance exercise (TRX) with purslane supplement on neurotrophic factor, adropin and nesfatin in overweight girls

Background and aim: obesity as an epidemic that has various causes involved in its occurrence, considering the effect of peptides in the occurrence of this problem, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of six weeks of TRX exercises along with purslane supplement which has antioxidant properties. and anti-inflammatory activity on neurotrophic factor, adropin and nesfatin in overweight girls.
Methods: During a semi-experimental study, 32 overweight female students of Ganaveh, in the age range of 16 to 18 years (BMI>25) were randomly selected into four groups: exercise, supplement, and exercise. Supplement and placebo were divided and for 6 weeks, the effect of TRX implementation with the help of purslane plant on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), adropin, nesfatin was investigated. Training groups performed TRX exercises in 9 to 11 movements for six weeks and three sessions each week and each session lasted 60 minutes. Two 500 mg capsules of purslane (Perpin Ala) were taken daily after breakfast and lunch. Analysis of covariance test, LSD post hoc test and dependent t test were used.
Results: There was a difference in BDNF factor between exercise*supplement group with exercise, supplement and control. Also, there was a difference in the nesfatin factor between the exercise*supplement group and the control group (P<0/05). But there was no difference in adropin factor between the groups (P>0/05).
Conclusion: Considering the effect of TRX exercises and purslane supplementation for six weeks on BDNF and nesfatin, with the aim of weight loss in young girls, it is recommended to use this study method.
