The effect of 5HT3 agonist receptor of the ventral hippocampal on amnesia induce by ethanol in mice

The critical role of ethanol and serotonergic systems of the CA1 hippocampus area in modulation of anxiety-like behaviors and emotional memory has already been demonstrated. Ethanol and serotonin receptors in the region of the brain hippocampus play an important role in this basis.This study examines the CA1 region of the hippocampus and the interactions between ethanol and the serotonergic system (5-HT) receptors.
Hypothesis Thus, the purpose of this study is interaction between 5-HT3 receptor agonist in the CA1 hippocampus area on Demolition of ethanol-induced memory.
Methods: In this study we used the number of 96 head of mice race NMRI. Ethanol was injected peritoneal, while 5-HT3 receptor agonist (MCHL) was injected intra-CA1. For memory measurement, a single-trial step-down passive avoidance apparatus was used.
Results: The data revealed that pre-training injection of ethanol (1mg/kg),and MCHL(0. 5ng/mouse) decreased memory acquisition process in the adult mice. Nonetheless, a no effective dose of MCHL (0.005) with no effective dose of ethanol (0.01mg/kg) induce amnesia. In another part of this study, it was observed that injection of different doses of serotonin Combined with an effective dose of ethanol, was regain damaged memory by ethanol.
Conclusions: our results demonstrated that the synergistic effect between CA1 5-HT3 receptor agonist with ethanol.
