Materials and Methods: Blood samples of 994 apparently healthy people above 30 years old were collected. All of them were asked to fast for about 12 hours. Blood sugar, urea, uric acid, creatinine, cholesterol and triglyceride were determined by RA-1000 autoanalyzer using Technicon biochemical kits. Results: Mean blood sugar values in women and men were 83.9±25.6 mg/dl and 82.4±29.8 mg/dl respectively, mean urea values in women and men were 13.1±9.0 mg/dl and 14.9± mg/dl respectively, mean uric acid values in women and men were 4.9±2.6 mg/dl and 6.1±3.0 mg/dl respectively, mean creatinine values in women and men were 210.0±92.6 mg/dl and 195.0±84.0 mg/dl respectively and mean triglyceride values in women and men were 220.0 mg/dl and 242.0 mg/dl respectively. Conclusion: The present reference ranges for fasting blood sugar, urea, uric acid and creatinine were similar to those appearing in the textbooks. The cholesterol values of 49% and triglyceride values of 55% of those people were above 200 mg/dl, which clearly shows higher values than reference values given by the World Health Organization. More research should be done to find the reason for these high values of lipids in the population.
