Abstract:   (395 Views)
Background and Aim: The present study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications on Broca’s aphasia indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed between 1991 and 2025 and to outline the global research landscape in this field.
Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 779 scientific publications retrieved from the three databases using the exact keyword “Broca’s aphasia.” After limiting the search to the subject areas of Psychology, Medicine, and Neuroscience and removing 564 duplicate records, the final dataset was analyzed using RStudio with the Bibliometrix package and VOSviewer. The analytical methods included annual publication trend analysis, citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence analysis, author collaboration network analysis, and identification of top countries, institutions, and journals.
Results: The findings demonstrated an upward trend in scientific production, with an annual growth rate of 0.96% and an average of 22.58 citations per document. The United States was the most prolific country (466 documents), Roelien Bastiaanse was the most active author (33 publications), and Northwestern University was the leading institution (55 publications). Aphasiology was the most productive journal, with 117 publications. The most cited article was “Language, Music, Syntax and the Brain,” with 803 citations, and the most frequent keyword was “aphasia,” with 264 occurrences. The largest research cluster was centered on Bastiaanse. The peak publication years were 2009 (36 documents) and 2014 (35 documents).
Conclusion: The quantitative analysis demonstrated a sustained upward trend in scientific production, confirming the growth and continuity of scientific activity in this field. However, the findings should be interpreted considering limitations such as database bias toward English-language journals and incomplete coverage of the final year (2025) due to indexing delays.
