Iron deficiency anemia was defined as hemoglobin less than 12 gr/dl, hematocrit less than 36%, MCV less than 80 femtoliters, MCH less than 26 picograms and serum ferritin less than 10 picograms per liter.

Results: According to hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV, MCH and serum ferritin 15.4%, 11.2%, 10.3%, 12.2% and 17.8% of the population under study were affected by Iron deficiency anemia respectively.
