Investigate the relationship between attitude and practical commitment to prayer with moral courage in nurses working in Kashan University of Medical Sciences, 2019

Background: Spiritual and religious worship such as prayer is one of the fourteen basic human needs. Nurses need moral courage to function properly. This study aimed was to determine the relationship between practical attitude and commitment to prayer and moral courage in nurses working in Kashan University of Medical Sciences.

Materials and Methods: This study is cross-sectional and the population were all nurses working in Kashan University of Medical Sciences. Criteria for entering the study were employment in Kashan University of Medical Sciences and willingness and informed consent to participate in the study and the exit criteria were unwilling to cooperate in the study. Multi-stage random sampling was used. In this method, Medical centers were considered as a cluster and wards were classified as class. Data collection was done through a questionnaire with three parts: background information and a tool for measuring attitude and practical commitment to prayers Anessa's and a tool for measuring moral courage of nurses Sadoughi Asl. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 16 and descriptive and analytical statistics.

Results: 42.5% of the nurses participating in this study (170 persons) were men. The mean and standard deviation of the age of the nurses were (34.53±11.71). The mean and standard deviation of attitude and practical commitment to nurses' prayers (123.46±19.95) and moral courage of nurses (241.95±31.11), The relationship between these variables was statistically significant (P<0.05).

Conclusion: Regarding the relationship between prayer and behavioral consequences of prayer and moral courage in determining the level of health, nursing policy-makers and planners are advised to improve and enhance their practical attitude and commitment to prayer and to seek moral courage among nurses.
